Reading Frenzy

I am on my sixth book this year which seems pretty unheard of for me.  I think a big part of it is that the kids can entertain themselves a lot better at this time.  It frees up a little more time for me.  And I think I am finally starting to learn how to relax.  I will curl up on the couch with a book when I get the chance.  I started reading while I am waiting for Maura to get out of school.  And I have stumbled upon a group of good books lately.
I finished the Little Heathens on Saturday morning.  It was great!  I recommend it and I am excited to see what Grandma and Grandpa think of it when they are done reading it.
I am finally delving into Daughter of Fortune.  I will tell more when I get a little more into it.

Little Heathens

This book is giving me a picture in my head of what my grandparents experienced as youngsters. This biography really resembles lots of stories I have heard from my grandma when she tells of her childhood. I like it a lot and would definitely recommend it to several people I know.

Finishing Up

So, I finished A Touch of Dead this morning. It basically gave details to some of the things referred to by Sookie in the Sookie Stackhouse series. It answered a few questions. It was unnecessary but a welcome addition to the series. I enjoyed it and was able to finish it quickly.

I started on Little Heathens this morning right after completing A Touch of Dead. I am not too far in but it is interesting so far and I look forward to getting into it.

Dead in the Family

Last night I read for about an hour before bed instead of watching TV. I finished the 9th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I started reading a bonus book by Charlaine Harris today. It isn't in order if read after book nine so I am not sure where it fits in yet.
I am really excited to start reading a book called Little Heathens. It was suggested by my great aunt. She said that it could have been written by herself or my grandma because it mirrors their way of life in the 30's and 40's. I am anxious to get a peek into that life from another view though I have heard lots of stories from my grandma.

I also started reading Daughter of Fortune a couple weeks ago. I think it is a good book. But I haven't reached that point of no return yet where I just can't put it down or wait to pick it up.

I have read a few cute books with the kids. Nolan has been very interested in the Beatrix Potter series. HE read Jeremy Fisher to me the other night. It was very adorable. He made up the story according to the pictures and I appreciated it greatly. It doesn't happen too often that I am read to.

Wow, so it's been a while

I have finished another Charlaine Harris book. Maura seems to take after my own heart and has several bookmarked books going. She has been participating in Book It. But she says she doesn't like Pizza Hut so she has three unused certificates for a free pizza.
I am reading Dead and Gone right now but I started reading Daughter of Fortune too! And I started Balck Christmas while I was waiting for Dead to the World to come into the library.

It's Been More than Two Months

Well, I am still reading Charlaine Harris. I have finished Dead as a Doornail and am currently working on Definitely Dead. I like these books. They are my nightly escape and relaxation time. I run a hot bath and relax and read. It's my time to myself.
Since my last post, I have been working on lots of things. We finished the landscaping in the front yard. I massively cleaned and reduced several things from the basement. We had a yard sale and then I gave lots of leftovers away to neighbors and family.
We took our first family trip to Frankenmuth. We stayed at the Splash Village and all had a ball! It was wonderful weather and I got a little Christmas shopping done. We really liked driving around looking at the Bronner's Christmas lights before Halloween. It was magical!
We also attended Green Field Village's Halloween celebration for the first time this year! We had so much fun that we are sure to go back again next year. It really helped me to feel like a kid again.
I also started Yoga. It was something that I have really wanted to do since college. It just never worked into my schedule so it didn't happen. Now I find myself looking forward to each class and even looking for other classes to take to fill in the slot between classes.
The only other thing I have been reading lately is parenting magazines and cookbooks. I promise I won't let this much time go between next posts.

Dead to the World and The Omnivore's Dilemma

It's been weeks since my last post. Since then I have finished the third and started the fourth book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. I also bought myself a book yesterday called The Omnivore's Dilemma. This caught my eye while the kids were looking at Dinosaurs books and puppets at Borders. So... I am only a few pages in but the book investigates where food comes from, things that happen to it from start to finish and asks do you know what you are really eating? Chris and I watched a documentary that researched part of this question and I find it very interesting and important information to know.
